Well I’m buzzing. There’s warmth in my belly. Smiles across my face. Tingling tongue. Mind more sparkling and filled with love and excitement than imaginable. Yep I’ve discovered a new concoction in the kitchen that is gonna knock your socks off. Literally. This post will give you 2 options – either a buzzing morning shot OR a fibre filled anti cancer, anti inflammatory, weight loss promoting green smoothie. You will never need to rely on that morning coffee buzz to wake you up. This will do this trick.

This beauty is intense but I highly recommend it. I woke up feeling a bit sluggish and tired today and decided to set about my day treating myself with kindness. I felt my body urging me to nourish it with anti-inflammatory foods and allow my digestive system to have a rest (its all about tuning in to your body and seeing what it tells you!). So a ginger  juice shot it was (to begin with – every time I put my mind to something in the kitchen I end up with something different).

So juicer all set ready to go – for each person use the following (see pic below):

1 lemon (rind and seeds included – this is loaded with extra nutrients dont get rid of these goodies *however please use organic lemons if you are including the rind as non-organic varieties have wax and pesticides on the outside!)

1 good sized chunk of ginger (approx. 1 inch diameter)

1 tsp turmeric powder (or similar size to your ginger piece is you have it fresh – I did not have any on hand unfortunately – as always fresh is always best but powdered turmeric is better than no turmeric!) to stir in after wards

Juice my darlings and stir in your turmeric after! It should look like this per shot

So as I mentioned above I change my mind in the kitchen a lot. I decided I now wanted a kick ass smoothie.

So into the blender went:

Ginger turmeric shot (x2 as I am making two serving sizes)

2 pears

2 big handfuls spinach

1 TBsp almond butter (I’m loving Meridian nut butters)

2 – 3 inches of cucumber

1 cup filtered water

3 cups ice

It should look like this in your blender:

image[2]Blend till smooth and serve one of these bad boys to another beloved or save it for yourself for later as it serves two.  Be brave & Drink (it is intense but amazing for you – you will adjust to the intense kick it gives you – or add an extra piece of fruit to sweeten it to your taste). Wake up. Be awesome.

So why is this so darn good for you? Its the wonderful blend of ingredients and super charged ingredients:

Turmeric: anti inflammatory, anti-cancer properties, anti-oxidant loaded, and anti bacterial agents to name but a few of its benefits.

Ginger: anti inflammatory, anti-cancer properties, anti-oxidant loaded, perfect healer for your digestive system, perfect for upset stomachs… the list goes on.

Spinach: your mum always told you to eat your greens for a reason! this smoothie makes sure you are covered on all bases. Iron, protein, calcium.. popeye wasn’t a huge fan for no reason!

Cucumber: tasty, refreshing, and helps shed excess water weight as it has a diuretic effect.

 

Get to the kitchen my darlings. Get juicing. Get blending. Get buzzing with this healthy naturally medicinally weight loss promoting gem. Your body, your skin, your insides, and your mind will thank you for it!

Note: If you don’t have a juicer place contents in to the blender (less rind and perhaps less ginger to taste).
