LOW FAT DIET BULLSHIT – WHY YOU NEED QUALITY FATS IN YOUR DIET TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT

January 19, 2015

fatcollageFor decades the diet industry has led us to believe that fat is bad, and whilst chowing down on deep fried garbage is, incorporating healthy fats in your diet could be exactly what you are missing. And here’s the real bonus…. FAT DOES NOT MAKE YOU FAT – it can actually help you lose fat. Say whaaaattttttt? Yep you heard me right.

Whilst in theory it seems that in order to lose fat you should just stop eating it.

Unfortunately it is not that simple. Fat is not metabolised in the body in such a simple way (it’s sugar that’s the culprit but I’ll be letting you in on that secret later this week so stay tuned).

Remember what I said above about how eating fat can actually help you to lose fat. It’s pretty awesome right? Especially when there’s so many tasty fat options. When I’m talking about fat here I am meaning good quality fats. Need direction on what’s a good fat?

You want to include fat sources such as your:

  • Nuts and seeds
  • Avocados
  • Olive oils
  • Coconut oil and coconut products
  • Oily fishes.

The above options are the kind of fats that are loaded with healthy Omega-3s, assist in lowering your cholesterol levels, improving your heart health, and did I mention they help you lose weight? Well I’m telling you again. Good fats help you lose weight. Got it. Good.

So what do you need to avoid (apart from sugary processed junk)?

The type of fats to avoid are your processed fats such as margarine (instead replace this with mashed avocado, coconut oil, or even butter from high quality real organic grass-fed sources IF you consume dairy products), processed foods, trans fats, “DIET” products that are loaded with shitty chemicals and artificial junk, and mass produced oils such as canola, soy, and vegetable blends.

A simple way to incorporate more fats in to your diet are by adding some of the options above to your smoothies and juices, having a spoonful of nut butter, having a tsp of coconut oil in your tea, make sure you add some to each meal to get a well rounded balance of nutrients, or grab this to sort you out.

I want to hear from you. Let me know your experience with eating fat to actually lose weight below.

With Love,
